My Chic and Easy Friendsgiving Décor Hack

Because I come from a family that never celebrated Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving has always been an important part of my traditions. For those of us with unconventional family situations, or those who have family members too far away for holiday get-togethers, Friendsgiving is a perfect alternative. Plus, as the saying goes, friends are the family that you choose! Once again, I’ll be hosting our Friendsgiving this year, and though it can be a lot of work (especially when you’re the kind of detail-obsessed host that I apparently am!), I’m already looking forward to the cash back rewards I’ll be earning as an American Express Blue Cash Everyday Card Member.

Like everyone else, I’m super busy this time of year, so I’m in desperate need of Friendsgiving hosting shortcuts. After seeing Refinery 29’s holiday hack videos with tons of ideas for simple-yet-clever ideas for hosting a flawless affair, I was inspired. The painted pumpkin centerpieces were absolutely adorable, but I decided to put my own little twist on that and use slightly less traditional materials. Also, I wanted to utilize things that are super easy to find at my local U.S. Supermarket—where I earn 3% cash back with my Blue Cash Everyday Card!

I scooped up a handful of beautiful red pears (they’re in season now, so they should be readily available at most grocery stores) and a gold paint pen from the housewares section. Then I decorated each pear with a modern geometric pattern using the gold pen and placed one at each table setting next to a sprig of rosemary (also easy to find at any grocery store) for a little extra seasonal flair. I also picked up some seeded eucalyptus and protea for a simple but interesting floral centerpiece, and set each place setting with copper mug for Moscow Mules and my table was instantly Instagram-worthy!

Thanks to my American Express Blue Cash Everyday card I’m actually rewarded for all the love I put into this Friendsgiving. Now if they only had a way to help me with the cooking and cleaning…
