Date Night
My heartmate and I are all about date nights. We usually do them on Fridays (Fridates as we like to call them). We catch up and connect after a long, grueling work week. It’s especially grueling for him because he’s in education. So it’s something we really look forward to. We typically pick restaurants that serve oysters. We find those briny bastards to be so delicious, and since we had them on our first date, it takes us back to that magical moment in Montauk. Swoon.
For one of our Fridates, we went to Cavan, which opened less than a year ago here in New Orleans. It’s in a gorgeous Victorian home on Magazine Street. There are two floors; I prefer the ambience upstairs. The blush pink walls and all the windows with the perfect lighting had me at hello. The food’s very fresh. They serve some of the best gulf oysters in town. We also love their peel & eat shrimp and Old Bay fries. It's like New Orleans meets New England. If any of y’all visit Nola, you should definitely check Cavan out!
