My Master Bathroom Update With Delta® Part 1

One of the main reasons my heartmate and I chose our Los Angeles abode was that it was a turn-key home and was recently renovated by some flippers. That said, now that we’re all settled in, we’re discovering more and more areas of the house that were either not well done, done incorrectly in the first place, or aren’t exactly fitting into our dream home vision. The latest room we plan to tackle is our master bathroom. From the looks of it, it’s not a complete train wreck, right?

But once you take a real good look at all the materials used, nooks and crannies, you’ll realize that most of the tiles are chipped and the grout is deteriorating. Literally, every time I shower, pieces of grout are falling off. It’s like self-demo-ing for me! That vanity is pretty much some sad, salvaged piece that’s about to fall apart. It’s not functional at all.

And check out this opening for our pet rat, Randy. He likes to watch us shower. Ha!

The space is pretty small. It’s roughly 5.5x9. There’s not a ton of storage space. So with this latest project we’re looking to make a big impact in a small space. It’ll feel larger, more functional, and just exciting to be in it. What I love about small bathrooms is that you can really go big and bold with your designs. It’s going to be a major overhaul using quality materials and some fab products from Delta®.

You already know I love me some color, and that’s something that’s been sorely missing. One of the ways we plan to inject a little more life is by swapping out the floor and shower tiles with gorgeous, green pattern cement tiles that simultaneously remind me of flowing water and one of my favorite type of plants (acacia). I always look to mother nature for some design inspiration.

I’ll be so happy to say buh-bye to those janky tiles and I think that change alone will be a very impactful move, but of course we ain’t stopping there. Our bathroom makeover will include a stylish floating vanity and toilet (the ultimate luxury!), ditching the tub for a walk-in shower, and adding a stunning marble slab that would run along the wall creating a ledge from the vanity to the shower. I also want to incorporate white chevron tiles. I definitely want to install a medicine cabinet but it’s so hard to find a beautifully designed one. I love a large arched mirror and I want to figure out how to make it work somehow as a cabinet door.

While these home improvements involve a little more effort, a relatively simple change that provides  a dramatic and immediate upgrade is swapping out our current faucet and fixtures. I love the modern look of the Delta Trinsic Collection, which includes a faucet, robe hook, shower trim, and a hand shower in Champagne Bronze — so chic and high-end, but surprisingly budget-friendly.

Relatively speaking, the bathroom is such a small space in the home, but if you ask me, it’s actually a really crucial space (not just for the obvious reasons). A good ol’ shower is a part of the day both my heartmate and I really relish: he opts to kick-off his day and get energized by hopping in one every morning, and I love to wash away the stress of my day with one at night. We want our bathroom to be our private little oasis to really enjoy these rituals, so we can’t wait to give it a ton of love — and elbow grease with a little help from our friends at Delta.

To start this process, one of my first steps was creating a moodboard to lay out all our big plans and see what the finished project might look like. I also gathered some bathroom inspirations. I love how simple and functional both bathrooms are designed.
